Today, I discovered a document that was monumental to me. It's called the halloween document and it is official an Microsoft memo, with comments throughout by Eric Raymond, one of the most articulate people in the Open Source Software movement

The halloween document is Microsoft's formal admission that open source software is real competition; that a global network of volunteers working for ego and love of what they do is producing software on par, or better than, Microsoft's.

I knew this was happening already, but it was nice to see Microsoft admit it. :)

Moments after finishing reading the halloween document, I found a news article that Linux, Microsoft's most threatening freeware competitor, will be used on 140,000 new computers in Mexican schools, perhaps as pilot project for much of South America!
